NON‑FORMAL EDUCATION

Participants will explore tools and methods to challenge prejudice and stereotypes through storytelling, reflection, and collaborative learning.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION

A hands-on experience using nature as a classroom: hiking, stargazing, and environmental action.

ERASMUS+ TRAINING

This exchange is funded by Erasmus+, promoting intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and youth empowerment across Europe.

Dates: 15 – 20 January 2025

Location: La Esperanza Youth Camp, Tenerife

Main Objectives:

Outdoor education

Astronomy and night sky observation

Hiking and nature-based learning

Storytelling workshops

Applying & spreading

Environmental awareness and reflection

Dissemination and community impact post-exchange

Activities:

Group hiking in Tenerife’s natural landscapes

Stargazing sessions under clear island skies

Storytelling circles and creative expression

Outdoor education games

Environmental activities (e.g., nature observation)

Final reflection and dissemination planning

🏠 Accommodation

  • Wood cabins in La Esperanza Youth Camp (El Rosario)

  • Rooms: double or triple

  • Provided: mattress, sheets, pillow, blanket

  • Bring your own towel

  • 🚫 Alcohol and smoking are strictly prohibited

  • 📵 No Wi-Fi available (digital detox!)

All meals provided at the camp

🚍 Transport & Travel Info

  • Closest airport: Tenerife North (preferred)

  • Meeting point: Santa Cruz Bus Station

  • Public bus lines:

    • Line 10 (from Tenerife South)

    • Line 20 (from Tenerife North)

  • Project provides van transport to activities

  • Reimbursement rules:

    • Only public transport with named tickets is reimbursed

    • Must attend 80% of the program

    • Tickets must show full name, price, destination, date

    • Upload invoices + boarding passes as scans

    • Up to 2 extra days allowed before/after for cheaper tickets

🧭 Dissemination & Impact

After returning home, participants are encouraged to:

  • Host workshops or events in their local communities

  • Share content via social media or blogs

    (Required to complete final reimbursement)

ABOUT US

The NGO Desaplatánate – Alternative and Sustainable Tourism in Canary Islands is a non-profit organization with the objective to foster the development of an alternative, social and sustainable touristic model that improves the general living conditions of the local population, and that guarantees respect for nature and the cultural values of the local community.

Therefore, we promote the mobilization of social networks through the facilitation of touristic activities and leisure which are accessible to everybody. The main principle is to maximize the benefits of tourism within the Canarian society, encouraging the inclusion of the society in the tourism branch, and supporting activities that improve the employability of the local population.
